We are making some of the stories and pictures from our archives available here on the website while the Museum and Heritage Centre are closed.
Articles published in the South Wight Chronicle during 2015 are available already, along with the photographs, and we will add more next month. Stories of growing up in Ventnor and the surrounding villages, the building of Ventnor’s first pier, what it was like to work ion shops like Sharpes Department Store in the High Street, and the history of some of our local schools.
We hope you enjoy them – and please do get in touch if you have your own stories and memories of our area.
See what is available now From our Archives.
The photograph here from our collection seems appropriate right now – it shows a delivery van from Cascade Dairy at 26 Pier Street upended on Ventnor Beach in 1925.
