New Exhibition: A Godshill Life

Joy Draper was born in 1907 and lived in Godshill all  her life. This exhibition uses family photographs and her  own words to recall details of family life in the village during WW1, and how, after leaving school when she was thirteen she went into service at the Old Vicarage, working as a parlour maid there for ten years before her marriage.  This photograph shows a pigeon shooting competition – Joy’s father Edward Thorne is seated on the left on the box.
