Echoes from the Hole in the Wall. Stories of ‘The Hole in The Wall’ pub, which stood on the corner of Market Street and Pound Lane (where Clarendon Court flats have now been built) and first known as the Commercial Tap, dating from 1860 when a beer licence was granted to Charles Farrow as an extension of the licence for the Commercial Hotel (later the Central) on Ventnor High Street.
