1866 To Ventnor by railway. Ventnor railway opened in 1866 and a photo shows the station partially built in a sandstone quarry. The station had no canopies and appeared like a building site. The journey from Ryde took 25 minutes and there were 12 trains each way daily. By Michael Freeman.
