Ventnor Bowling Club 1896

1896: What a journey for a game of bowls! Report from IOW County Press of a bowling match between Carisbrooke and Ventnor on 19 September 1896.  The journey from Newport was in a four-horse brake, with lunch in Shorwell, and it rained most of the day.  Dinner was served at the Kent Hotel, Ventnor, and the visiting team departed for Newport at 9 pm.
