Ventnor Cricket Club

Dr Victor Blake, Team Captain, Ventnor Cricket Club. In 1885 Major Dudley Hambrough offered a lease on a field in Steephill Castle grounds which became Ventnor Cricket Club. A pavilion opened in 1892 and, in 1899 Ventnor defeated Newport to become First Division Champions. A photo taken 1903-4 shows President William Mew Judd and the Captain Dr Victor Blake.
