Godshill in 99 Old Postcards is the third book in this popular series, following Ventnor in 99 Old Postcards (published in 2023) and Bonchurch in 99 Old Postcards (published in 2024).
Using postcards held in the Society’s archive, this new book gives a snapshot of life and times in and around Godshill village from the early 1900s through to the 1980s. Despite being a relatively small rural community in the early part of the twentieth century, Godshill’s attraction as a picturesque village made it a must-visit location and one of the most photographed spots on the Island.
The cards presented are arranged in chapters including Godshill Village, All Saints Church, The Batswing, The Model Village, The Old Smithy, Pubs, Thatched Cottages, The Railway Station, Tea Rooms and Godshill School.
